Well beauties, you all know which creams to use, what product to apply in the morning and evening, and in which order. But somehow your skin still breaks out or still isn’t as moisturized as you’d like? 😲
Then you might be a victim of a bad habit, without even realizing it.
This time we asked Dr. Costi for tips on what Not to do if we want great skin, no matter what.
Here are 5 things you should stop doing ✋ if you want a clear and glowing face.
Usually it is recommended to keep a clean face by washing and exfoliating regularly, especially if you tend to have oily skin. However as Dr. Costi reminds us that “we don’t want to strip the skin from the good oils that form its protective barrier”.
Too much washing with harsh products will actually have the averse effect of accelerating oil production and increasing breakouts as a reaction to your face drying out.
“Always use a gentle face wash twice a day, to cleanse and nourish your face”.
“One of the worse things you can ever do!” according to Dr. Costi. No matter how busy or tired you are, you should always find a way to remove your make-up before putting your face on your pillow. Overnight, your skin’s oil glands will get clogged up leading to inflammation and enlarged pores, which damages your face in the long run. Especially as you get older, your skin won’t have the ability to snap back from the inflammation.
Going to bed with your make-up = inflammation = breakouts = damaged skin.
Blame it on #maskne, but we’ve all been a victim of this.
“Trying to treat your own acne is only going to make it worse” says Dr. Costi. That’s why there are professional pimple-poppers 😉 @pimplepopper_me. When we try to pop a pimple at home, the problem is that we squeeze it from the side, causing the infection to go deeper into our skin layer. This will spread the infection and even worse, enlarge the pores.
Dr. Costi recommends cleaning gently, and just waiting for the pimple to pop by itself, in order for it to drain properly. Otherwise, if you can’t wait, please get a professional appointment for a facial and keep those hands away from your face!
Lack of sleep is not only bad for our skin, it’s bad for our mood. When your body can’t rest, it shows on your face. That’s why it’s called beauty sleep. Your metabolism must be able to rest, to flush out toxins and free-radicals, otherwise your skin will become dull and pale. And let’s not forget about under-eye circles!
The number 1 golden rule for great skin= Always wear sunscreen.
“Everyday!” says Dr. Costi. Whether you go out, in the sun, in the snow, in winter or in summer, you have to wear a good sunscreen. No ifs or buts about it. That’s it!
No joke, we’re not saying don’t talk on the phone- just remember to wear your earbuds. Cell phones gather so much bacteria that they are dirtier than a toilet seat (ten times dirtier). Simply put, when your phone touches your face, it is transmitting all the pimple-causing and pore-clogging dirt to your skin’s surface. So just as you disinfect your hands, it is also imperative to disinfect your phone.

If you know you’re guilty of these habits, it’s time for you to realize and get the skin you deserve. You can do it beauties!
