Having a beautifully tanned skin is a wish of very many people, especially in the warm season. Still, we should be aware that the sun rays can do a lot of damage on our skin. The incidence of skin cancer is rather high, plus other skin issues connected to prolonged sun exposure, without proper protection. It is okay to be out in the sun, but at the appropriate times during the day and always wearing an adequate sunscreen. The sunscreen should be chosen according to the SPF number, which indicates the level of protection that it will offer to your skin. Don’t you know what SPF you need? You could ask the help of a dermatologic or be very careful at how your skin reacts when out in the sun.

During the summer months, a sunscreen is crucial, as it protects your skin from the damaging effects of the UVs, the radiations emitted by the sun’s light. Even starting with the early hours in the morning, your skin can still be affected by the sun’s rays. Also, when driving, putting your windows up will not help, as your skin can get quickly burned through the window as well. Exposing your skin to the sun without the proper protection can lead to sunburns, skin allergies and irritations caused by the sun, severe skin dehydration, premature aging, the appearance of aging spots, and, in the worse case, skin cancer. Your skin needs the proper level of SPF protection if you want to make sure that it is screen against the noxious UVs.

The sunscreen is not only done to be used at the pool or beach, as you can use it each time you know that you will be outside during a day with full sunshine. For it to be fully active when walking out in the sun, it should be applied on the exposed areas of skin, like legs, arms, neck, cleavage, shoulders and face, with half an hour before going out. Also, if you are at the beach or pool, make sure you use a waterproof sunscreen and don’t enter the water immediately after applying it either. Make sure as well to pick a sunscreen adequate for your type of skin. For instance, in the case of dry skin, you will need a moisturizing sunscreen, like the ones that are creams. If your skin is oily or with acne, you will need lighter sunscreens, like sprays, gels, or alcohol-based lotions.
Everyone should wear sunscreen, regardless of their skin complexion, whether they burn quickly or not. Scientists show that the ozone layer is thinning, and holes appear, which means that we will have to withstand an ever higher dose of UV radiations. Also, sunscreens are proven to diminish the occurrence of skin cancer, in times when the rates of such an illness are on the rise. Plus, keeping your skin protected from the sun it will mean that it won’t age too fast. So why to risk your safety and the beauty of your skin, when you can simply wear sunscreen, something that can be applied easily, just like you do with your body lotion.
