Hello beauties! Who’s ready for the Hot Girl Summer?👄💃🕶️💖
Sun, Fun and wait but first we need to talk about protection. Have you been using a good sunscreen? Don’t even try to hide the truth, you can’t lie to Dr. Costi!
As our DermaHero flies from country to country saving his innocent clients an teaching them how to care for their skin, we know what his golden rule is: always wear sunscreen.
Well you will have no more excuses because here is a list of the best sun protection for every skin type.
Sunscreen does not only help prevent cancer. It is indeed most important to prevent sunburn, but it also helps protect against wrinkles, premature aging as well as pigmentation and melasma. Some studies have even shown how sunscreen helps improve our skin’s appearance, reducing dark spots and boosting brightness.
It is important to protect your skin from harmful UV rays no matter your skin tone, because as much as we worship the sun and the “feel good” vibes it gives us, once we damage our skin we might never be able to reverse it.
A fragrance-free sunscreen is ideal for any skin type. What you’re looking for is a lightweight, non-greasy formula that provides light moisture and rubs in quickly. We absolutely recommend a product containing Niacinamide (vit B3) which is an anti-inflammatory that reduces sebum.
A non-comedogenic formula is great for sensitive skin. Look for products containing antioxidants as well as ceramides which help to retain moisture. A light non-greasy formula “lightweight” will be easily absorbed and won’t leave you with a sticky feeling.
Also look for a zinc-based SPF that makes it water-resistant.
A creamy mineral sunscreen is best for dry skin, as it will not only protect but also improve skin’s appearance.
Look for formulas with zinc oxide and titanium oxide, as well as antioxidants like Vitamin C, shea butter and niacinamide that maintain radiance and protect collagen in the skin.
You don’t want to worry about clogged pores or excess shine, so look for oil-free, light and non-comedogenic gel formulas.
A great option is using a powder sunscreen, which is easy to reapply and helps mattify the shine on your face.
When choosing a sunscreen, look for water-resistant options whenever possible. This will be helpful if you sweat, if you’re being active or if you forget to reapply within 2 hours.
The sunscreen must be applied on a clean skin, so if you’re getting ready in the morning put it on before your makeup.
You must also get an SPF broad spectrum sunscreen which ensures protection from UVA and UVB rays. It is best to get an SPF 30+ especially in your early days of exposure, and for kids’ protection.
Remember to Re-apply often! Every 2 hours, or every time you go for a swim.
How much sunscreen should you wear? The best to make sure you’re protected is this: apply sunscreen as much as you can rub in and make it disappear into your skin. Once your skin has absorbed that quantity, that’s how much you should reapply a second time to ensure you stay protected.
