Do you remember all those games we played when we were kids, pulling faces, and our mother shouting at us that our face would get stuck that way? Mom, you were wrong!
It seems that pulling faces is the best anti-aging new technique as shown by the new face yoga craze that is sweeping the world.
So what is this series of exercises that are supposed to be as effective as Botox or fillers?
The idea behind face yoga is that practicing exercises with your face is supposed to strengthen the muscles under your skin and therefore by plumping up your whole face it decreases the signs of aging. Amazing news for women isn’t it? Well it was created by a woman called Fumiko Takatsu who has discovered a way to make wrinkles, frown lines and even double-chins disappear.
Wanna read about it? Let’s go.
Just like all yoga, the face yoga exercises also incorporate deep breathing in order to encourage blood flow to the skin and stress reduction.
Apparently, while the wrong repetitive movements can cause unwanted wrinkles on your face, moving your face muscles the right way can prevent and even reduce wrinkles.
As the method clearly explains, there are many factors that cause aging of the skin, but muscle movement is something that can’t be stopped. That’s where the yoga comes in to relax and remove tension from the face. A vast series of instructions will show you how to pinch and squeeze your face, sometimes with the help of your fingers.
While each pose takes a minute, you are practicing specific movements that target different parts of your face where you have wrinkles. Standing in front of a mirror, practice the exercises that Takatsu shows on her website and on her Facebook, until you make sure that you are moving your face muscles correctly. Then, repeat until you see the results!
As per Takatsu, you could be rid of your wrinkles forever! Forever! That’s a big promise isn’t it? Challenge accepted! We want to be forever young.
Here are 2 examples of face yoga exercises just to give you an idea.
The Smile Lifter: to define and add volume to cheeks, and tone the neck.
Move the jaw slightly forward, curl your lower lips over your teeth. Then smile, making sure both corners of your mouth are at the same level. Lift up the chin slightly and push your tongue up to the roof of the mouth. Keep pushing hard for 10 seconds then relax and repeat twice.
The Eye-Opening Binocular Pose: to prevent wrinkles and open the eye area.
Place the index fingers above each eyebrow, along the upper eye bones and each thumb on either side of the nose, just above the nostrils. Open your chest, pull down your shoulder blades, and open your eyes as widely as possible. Make sure you press your fingers firmly into your eyebrows, not moving your forehead and brows. Hold this pose for five seconds. Then, squint your eyes. Hold this for five seconds, and then relax for a few seconds.
Whether you believe it or not, the internet is going crazy for this method. Why not try it?
We say let’s go for it but please ask Dr. Costi before you do anything extreme. We really don’t want your face to get stuck that way 😉
