Hello beauties!
Improving our skin is a goal for us every day, and you’ve probably tried every trend out there that promises you baby skin. But have you tried scrubbing your face with a sharp blade?
Yikes, we know. But women all over the world are “shaving” their faces for a rejuvenated look.
Dermaplaning is a different kind of exfoliation, and apparently it does wonders to improve your skin’s texture and reveal the beauty underneath the dull exterior. It also gets rid of unwanted facial hair.

So what exactly is dermaplaning?
Although it is not a new treatment, dermaplaning (sometimes called dermablading) is trending right now as more people are turning to a fresh skin and bare-faced look without heavy make-up.
Since we want glowing skin, we have to remove the build-up of dead skin cells which can clog pores and fair follicles causing breakouts. This instantly reveals a clearer, even-toned complexion! It also works wonders on the skin texture.
How is it done?
Using a small surgical blade to scrape dead skin off your face, the process will also remove facial hair (peach fuzz) and reveal a soft baby skin underneath.
This is an exfoliating treatment as well as a hair-removal procedure. Your face is first cleansed to have a clean canvas for the scalpel. Then as the skin is being gently scraped, you will feel the blade stroke you gently as it removes the layers of dead skin and the peach fuzz. Once the entire face is finished, a cream will be applied to protect and hydrate your fresh layer of skin.
And don’t worry, there is no down-time and you won’t feel a thing, so it’s a perfect treatment to have before a big event!
Of course you will also have to wear sunscreen to protect your face from sun damage and pigmentation, as well as maintain your new baby skin with a good skin-care at home (look into products with Vitamin C and Retinol).
Why is it good for the skin?
On its own or as an extra treatment alongside another treatment, you can trust that it will maximize the benefits of your skin products. Active ingredients and hydrators now penetrate the deep skin layers as the layers of top dead skin have been removed.
Any side effects?
As it is a gentle procedure, you can have your face dermaplaned all through the year, every 6 weeks- depending on your skin sensitivity. The thing to also consider is the re-growth of your new facial hair which might feel a bit prickly until it gets longer and flat within 4 to 6 weeks.
Always ask your doctor about your facial hair before undergoing any treatment, as you might have an underlying issue that could be aggravated by the peeling of your skin. You must also avoid dermaplaning if you have a severe acne inflammation or hypersensitive skin.
I guess dermaplaning sounds like a good plan right now. What do you think?
