Well beauties, the end of the year is looming around the corner and Thank Goodness for that! We can’t wait to wave Good Bye to 2021 and Hello to the New Year.
But as we ponder the days gone by, let’s have a look at our own reflection: how’s our skin? Are we glowing? Does our face need a little “je ne sais quoi” to GLOW??
Ready to discover all about this non-invasive skin treatment?
Our bodies naturally produce hyaluronic acid, which can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, but we gradually lose it with age. Profhilo is an injectable filler made with hyaluronic acid that boosts skin hydration and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, for a plump, dewy youthful look.
It contains pure hyaluronic acid and it’s most commonly used to treat the face, but also other areas such as the neck, décolletage, hands, elbows and knees.
Unlike most hyaluronic acid injectables, Profhilo isn’t just a dermal filler: it’s called a skin booster. Rather than creating volume directly where it’s injected, the clear, jelly-like substance dissipates throughout the skin, for overall facial rejuvenation.
It won’t change your face shape or erase deep wrinkles, but Profhilo can improve skin fine lines, and overall skin quality, making skin look smoother, brighter, and more youthful. So it’s different than Botox and other skin fillers.
In synthetic forms used for injectables, hyaluronic acid is typically cross-linked, meaning the chains are connected by a cross-linking agent called 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE). This makes the hyaluronic acid molecules of different sizes clump together so that they remain in one mass and create a visible volume increase where they’re injected. It also slows down their absorption by the body.
Now as to Profhilo, it’s formulated without BDDE (or any other chemical cross-linking agents), so the hyaluronic acid it contains disperses throughout the skin to provide more drawn-out hydrating benefits.
The high concentration and diffusion of hyaluronic acid within the dermis also trigger regenerative cells called fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin.
This effect has been named in the industry as “bioremodelling.”
