But what if you’re not washing your face correctly? Even worse, what if you’re using the wrong product for your skin type?
🌸🌸🌸
Get ready to have a look at the most common 6 face washing mistakes. Some of them are so obvious they will shock you!
Right? Haven’t we all done this? Before putting our hands on our face, especially these days, we must make sure they are completely clean. Our hands don’t only have bacteria or viruses, they are also very very sanitized therefore have alcohol which might irritate our precious complexion. So before we clean our face, let’s make sure to clean our hands.
Isn’t washing our face a sure way to remove make-up as well? Apparently not.
A full face of make-up must be removed with a make-up remover, then your face will have the chance to be washed because they are two different concepts that serve two different purposes. Washing your face has the purpose of washing your bare face, therefore it needs to be free of make-up beforehand.
We always talk about the importance of exfoliating, and even more important is not to over-exfoliate.
We all should definitely exfoliate at least twice a week to remove dead skin cells from the surface of our face. However, it’s a process that scrubs away healthy oils along with the dirt, and irritates our skin. So keep in mind to be gentle with your skin and carefully assess your exfoliation needs.
Guilty, very guilty! While we’re enjoying the moment and just using all of our favorite products in the shower, apparently we should not be washing our face in there.
The argument? When we rinse our hair it can leave a build-up of product on our face, and since we already washed our face- well then we won’t have a really clean face and the hair products might even cause irritation.
That’s why the only way to really have a clean face is to wash it after we finish showering.
Dr. Costi has often warned us about this: hot water can dry out your face because it strips your skin of its natural oils. Your best friend is lukewarm water instead, even in the harshest of winters.
Once you have a clean face, it’s time to moisturize. Even when you’re using a gentle hydrating cleanser, your routine is not complete until you apply a good moisturizer.
This applies to all skin types! If you need extra hydration, apply your moisturizer on damp skin to lock-in hydration.
Most importantly, it’s good to start any routine with the appropriate product for you. If you don’t know what to choose, stay tuned for next week’s blog where we will discuss which cleanser you should be using for your skin type.
See you then beauties!
