2020 is about to end… Please, beauties, don’t even get us started! We know how you feel about it, and what you’ve been through with it. But, and it’s a big BUT, as they say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and for that matter: wiser.
As we say our good byes to a year that will go down in the history books, we take away the lessons that we have learned from it.
#maskne
As if we didn’t have enough to worry about, now we have to worry about getting acne from wearing our face masks all day. This side-effect of having to cover our face, is sometimes unavoidable but it is treatable. A good skin routine will help you deal with this pimple problem head-on, as well as treating your skin to a bit of extra care. Keep your pores clean and your face hydrated, and keep a water spray mist handy to refresh your skin whenever it feels irritated.
Not so hot
Who doesn’t dream of a hot bath after a long cold day? But the hot water will do more harm to your skin than you imagine. Hot water leads to dryness, itchiness as well as peeling, especially during winter when your skin needs extra love and care. By taking a hot shower or even putting hot water on your face, you strip away the protective outer layer that keeps it hydrated.
Not a fan of the cold water? Ok, we have a better idea. Run the hot water in the shower until it forms steam, then step into the steam shower without being in contact with the water. (Steam is very beneficial for your skin!) Then slowly cool the water until a lukewarm degree that you can handle.
Ice cold
Your new best friend? Ice, ice baby. Rubbing an ice cube on your face has amazing beauty benefits like reducing inflammation and puffiness under your eyes. But when you also add a calming rose essence to the water before freezing it, you get smoother skin with the tightening pores. The result is immediate, and when your skin is fresh and primed in the morning, then you will reap the benefits for the rest of the day.
Try it as soon as you wake up, and just look at the effect!
We all need a good cleaning
As cleanliness became our number one priority, we furiously scrubbed our hands and remembered the importance of scrubbing our faces. A good face cleaning will not only remove pollution, dead skin cells and sweat, it will invigorate your blood circulation therefore flushing toxins and boosting collagen production.
Whether it’s with a treatment at the clinic, or your daily skin routine, remember to clean your face morning and night, and exfoliate regularly.
And for the skin perfectionists, there are many electronic tools (FOREO) and well as at-home kits (Microdermabrasion cleansing kit) to give you that extra boost.
Snail power
Many were shocked after discovering this Korean beauty secret, but apparently snail mucus has been a secret in many beauty formulas. From whitening, to moisturizing, to fighting acne and wrinkles, snail mucin extract is an all-in-one skin repair ingredient.
You can buy it everywhere, in cream, serum, or sheet face mask.
Have you tried it yet?
