Hello beauties, and thank you for being so active with your comments and opinions on these articles with your questions for Dr. Costi.

One interesting thing we noticed is that a lot of girls and boys don’t know which creams do what, and which cream is best for their skin type.

So today we thought we would simply start with the most important step of any skin routine which is: moisturizing your face.

Moisturizer is the most important step in your skincare routine but only if you’re using the right one for your skin type!
That’s why we asked Dr. Costi for general guidelines regarding to cover the 7 major skin types.

1. Dry skin
If u have itchy, red, flaky and tight skin, you need a moisturizer with a thick cream consistency.
Products containing shea butter, glycerin and hyaluronic acid all help to intensely hydrate and soothe.
Key ingredient to look for: lanolin which helps draw water into the outer layers of your skin.

2. Oily skin
With this skin type you tend to have larger pores, and even when you cleanse it you can notice it get oily immediately after. The goal is to keep it oil free and clean, so it is best to use a water-base gel moisturizer with a very light consistency.
A water gel that contains Hyaluronic acid will hydrate your skin all day, so it won’t need to produce oil to compensate for loss of hydration.
Key ingredient to look for: dimethicone. Because of its fluid properties it helps create improved texture in skin care as it doesn’t mix with the sebum on the surface.

3. Acne prone skin
Keep an eye out for oil free lightweight moisturizers with a gel like consistency instead of cream because anything thick can clog your pores and make your acne worse.
Look for products with salicylic acid which will help reduce oil and also exfoliate dead skin cells to help fight acne.
Key ingredient to look for: hyaluronic acid which will smooth-out flaky skin.

4. Combination skin
If you have an oily T-zone with dry skin on your cheeks, then you have combination skin. You need extra hydration in the area that needs it and at the same time avoid the areas that get oily. So you can apply here the tips for both oily skin and dry skin.
Key ingredient to look for: The best is to try a balancing product for combination skin that specifically caters to the needs of your T-zone as well as calm and hydrate your dry area.

5. Sensitive skin
Easily irritated, prone to breakouts? Then you have sensitive skin that needs a hypoallergenic moisturizer that’s oil free and fragrance free. The key word here is soothing, so look for products containing aloe, chamomile, green tea and rose.
Key ingredient to look for: products containing antioxidants, water and organic ingredients.

6. Aging skin
Fine lines, wrinkles and dark spots need products with anti-aging ingredients such as AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) and peptides which help minimize the signs of aging, improve your skin tone and nourish your skin.
Key ingredient to look for: Retinol for youth renewal.

7. Normal skin
Lucky you! Your skin is even with no flaking or excess sebum causing sheen. You can use any type of moisturizer you like. Our only advice for you is to vary your skin care routine according to the seasons.
In the summer use a lightweight moisturizer and in the winter use a heavier cream.
