It’s true what they say about men, that the more they age the more attractive they get. Yes we do agree. However, the trick is to age very slowly and so in order to achieve this all men must, with no exception, take care of their skin.
And here’s your perfect opportunity in summer, when you (men) make the effort of buying some creams like sunscreen and especially aloe vera because you know that you will get badly sunburned (not allowed anymore, especially if you read this blog!)
So let’s take this time and get you started on a skin care routine, whether you’re new to skin care or you’re a bit lazy. Either way we asked Dr. Costi for a quick and easy guide of simple summer skin care tips.
Whether you’re being active or just relaxing, you need to be covered from head to toe, especially protected on your easy-burn spots like your ears, lips and shoulders.
Dr. Costi’s advice: get a spray sunscreen this way you won’t miss a spot. And sit in the shade between 12 and 4PM. Please.
A busy day must start with protection from pollution and the early signs of aging.
Dr. Costi’s advice: get a very well performing and hydrating moisturizer that will repair your skin all day long. Apply it after washing your face.
If you do one thing, let it be washing your face to boost and refresh your skin.
Dr. Costi’s advice: use a very light face wash to help you balance your skin’s pH as well as thoroughly clean it.
Whether after an intense gym session or after a day in the sun you might notice your skin is extra red or burning.
Dr. Costi’s advice: cool off quickly with some ice cubes. It’s an old trick that works very well: fill the sink with water and ice cubes and just dunk your face in. No time for that? Just put some ice cubes in your mouth and let them melt. The cold will calm the blood flow to your face and it will reduce the redness.
For a less extreme solution, a cold compress on your neck will help get the inflammation down.
No you can’t neglect your face the same way you forget to water that poor cactus sitting in your living room. This is where you can have some time for yourself and give your skin the extra love and care it deserves, prepping it for another whole week ahead or a special occasion.
Dr. Costi’s advice: An exfoliating mask will smooth out tired skin and reveal the baby fresh face underneath. Try an active clay mask that will also reduce any shine in your most oily spots like forehead, nose and chin. Or even better, why not make your own mask from ingredients in your fridge! We love a honey-yogurt mask that purifies all skin types, or an avocado-chocolate for those who need extra hydration.
And now just take a look in the mirror at that gorgeous face and confident smile. It’s simply you, but twice as handsome with healthy skin.
