And even though they might not be cheap, they are worth it, because our skin is worth it! So what are some of these life-changing products you should be using?
We asked Dr. Costi who gave us a list of 10 of his favorite creams, hydrators and exfoliators.
1. Glycolic acid cleanser
Check for products with 8% glycolic acid value for real peeling action. It renews your skin, leaving it baby soft.
2. AHA toner
They may be very effective for women who suffer some slight discoloration from pregnancy. It targets dark spots, and as an added bonus is that it works on fine lines and wrinkles as well as texture. Check for a product that’s gentle enough for everyday use.
3. L-ascorbic acid serum
If you’re prone to hyperpigmentation, be on the lookout for this brightening type of serum. Some are also paired with vitamin C, quickly evening out your skin tone.
4. Anti-oxidant moisturizer
It gives your skin a nice glow and is flawless to wear under makeup. The antioxidant-rich ingredients protect your skin from damage caused by external factors, like pollution and UV damage, which helps your skin recover faster from aggressions.
5. Salicylic acid exfoliator
Look for amino acid exfoliating pads or scrubs which help reduce uneven skin tone, fine lines, and wrinkles. They make your skin tingle a bit, but they work effectively making my skin healthier and more youthful-looking. They also work wonders on acne.
6. Retinol Cream
If you’re after red carpet glowing skin, then use a retinol cream. Now there’s even vegan retinol treatments that feel lightweight and hydrating, and have the same effect as regular retinol: helps with fine lines and gives an overall brighter and radiant skin tone.
7. Hyaluronic acid and Niacinamide night cream
These miracle ingredients both nourish and replenish skin, leaving it plump and dewy. Both ideal for sensitive skins, use them to reduce inflammation caused by pollution or UV exposure.
8. Hand cream
These days you must keep hydrating your hands (due to frequent washing), so keep a lightweight and non-greasy formula in your purse. It will easily penetrate deeply and prevent your hands from drying out. Apply it after every wash.
9. Self tanner (bye-bye sunburn)
Gel, cream or spray, let it be lightweight and subtle to get a natural-looking tan. Dr. Costi’s rule is to apply an SPF 50+ for your face.
Tanning is still in, but not under the burning sun!
10. Electronic brush for acne
If you’ve got oily skin, you will sure be prone to acne, and you will surely need a brush to efficiently exfoliate your face. However, make sure it’s not too harsh on your skin, with gentle bristles that will clean and leave your skin more radiant. Take care of acne without aggravating it.
