If you think nothing is happening in your body during the night, you should think again, because only your brain rests, while the rest of the body continues with its tasks. For instance, it is a period ideal for cleaning up and repairing any damages, which are rules that apply in the case of your skin. So you should better not ignore this aspect before going to bed. In fact, there are a couple of things you can do, to help your organism out, if you want to keep your skin healthy, smooth and glowing. Here is what you need to know.

  • Make sure to clean your face skin thoroughly

If you always wish to look outstanding when walking outside your house, you probably will wear makeup rather often, if not even daily. So it is mandatory to clean that off at the end of the day, to allow your skin to breathe. Although, when living in a busy city, makeup is not the only reason you should make sure to your skin is properly cleaned. Dust, pollution and a great range of particles will stick to your face, due to high traffic, so you may want to keep the skin’s pores out of danger. A double cleansing process would be the best idea, using an efficient cleanser for makeup first, and a second cleanser without any soap content to remove any left debris of your skin.

  • Get rid of dead skin

Skin cells are known for renewing their layer now and then, the dead ones scaling off and letting the now ones shine at the surface. Still, this process may need your help, especially when your skin starts looking dull and dusty. An alpha-hydroxy acid-based cleanser will help you out, if you will use it about twice a week, getting rid of the dead skin cells. This may be the perfect second step in case of a double cleaning. Just again, use it twice a week and not every day, as your skin may end up being too sensitive.

  • Don’t forget about proper moisturizing

Once your skin is properly cleaned, it is time to apply a moisturizer. Since you are going to bed shortly, a hydrating overnight mask will do the trick. They are made for this type of usage and will make sure that your skin is smooth and plump in the morning. A great trick would be to keep the moisturizing cream or mask in the fridge until you use it, as its cold temperature will reduce redness and swelling, and will close the pores.

  • Try to sleep on your back

If you want to prevent wrinkles and fine lines from appearing, it is best to try sleeping on your back. Believe it or not, but your skin squashed on the pillow may favor the appearance of wrinkles. Also, on the side you tend to sleep more, that’s the part that will suffer from thin lines the most.
